Lynn's Zoning Board of Appeals continued a contested Maple Street variance to November 17 and pushed a $6 million dealership relocation to October 20. Attorney Samuel A. Vitale, representing a member of the Diaz family, sought a variance to build a single-family home with an attached accessory dwelling unit on a landlocked, frontage-deficient rear lot, calling the restriction a "practical difficulty." Abutter Michael Dawney testified "there's seven pickup trucks there as of three days ago, and there's plows, there's snow blowers," while a Ward 1 city councilor's letter urged denial over congestion concerns.
The board, voting 5-0, continued the case with stipulations on drainage and impervious surface area. Separately, Vitale told the board a Hyundai dealership relocation to 730 Lynnway represents a $6 million investment creating 60 jobs paying $100,000 or more, calling the deal "absolute concurrence and agreement" pending final paperwork. The board also approved an addition at a Walter Street property on a 4-0 vote.
