Water Commission rescinds December vote, names new chair
Water · Meeting of January 12, 2026
Lynn Water and Sewer Commission ousts its own December leadership pick in a same-night 3-1 revote. Commissioners first voted 3-1 to rescind December's chairperson and vice chairperson selection, then voted 3-1 again to install Commissioner Peter Meaney as chair and Commissioner Vinnie Lozier as vice chair, with Commissioner Salona opposed both times and Commissioner Grace absent. Legal counsel told the board the move was "up to you to make a decision as to whether that's properly before the commission," citing gaps in the commission's own rules.
Separately, staff reported December capacity at just 52 percent against a 68.2 percent seasonal average amid a state-declared Level 2 drought, and said the treatment plant project is nearing completion as the commission releases contractor retainage.
