LYNN — The Lynn City Council's Budget Committee reviewed a $577 million fiscal 2027 budget carrying a $23 million increase, with a formal vote set for June 9. Chief Financial Officer Michael Bertino said cherry sheet aid rose $10.9 million and the tax levy grew about $8 million, while a brutal winter forced a $4.9 million transfer after snow and ice removal cost $6 million. Free cash was certified at $23.7 million for the year, but fiscal 2027 projects only $2.9 million.

Personnel Director Drew Russo said six of seven city unions are now under contract through 2028 and announced the Department of Public Works tree crew, vacant for a year, will finally be restored after a deal with Local 193. Planner Aaron Klassen said three developers responded to an RFI for the downtown MBTA garage site, with the city requiring at least 450 public parking spaces in any redevelopment.
