Lynn School Committee closes out the year with new LVTI leadership and an early-college milestone. Superintendent Dr. Cohen introduced Jason McCush as the next principal of Lynn Vocational Technical Institute, succeeding Gallo after 37 years, and confirmed Julie Loof as deputy superintendent.

Principal Heather Fabiano reported that 36 of Frederick Douglass Collegiate Academy's first graduating class already hold an associate's degree, with 13 more pending, putting the school on pace for 49 graduates, or 66 percent of seniors, with a college degree by summer's end. The committee accepted an $11,445 surplus-equipment donation from Lynn Community Television and voted 5-0, with two members absent, to enter executive session on contract talks with non-union administrators. Earlier, during open mic, non-renewed teacher Denisa Lopez said her dismissal "exposed the hypocrisy of the LPS leadership," alleging special education compliance problems.

A staff retention survey found 95 percent of respondents plan to remain in Lynn Public Schools.
