School Committee · Meeting of May 28, 2026

LYNN — The Lynn School Committee heard Superintendent Dr. Molly Cohen's six-month progress report and previewed a vote on extending her interim contract. Cohen said a staff survey found 80 percent of employees confident in leadership, 77 percent reporting increased stability and 70 percent reporting clearer communication, with 60 percent agreeing on clarity around the district's new instructional core framework.

During open mic, union representative Rick Tessler said five clerical positions had been cut, including one held 12 years, while the district filled a separate administrative post with grant money, saying "I don't want to see anyone lose their job... but how can you say the five of my members?" The committee also approved three field trips and accepted a $500 donation from Camp Lion of Lynn for Ingalls Elementary's field day, and Deputy Superintendent Lori Gallivan said three school civics teams advanced to the state showcase June 5.
