LYNN — The Lynn School Committee voted 7-0 to transfer $99,374 between accounts to reinstate a Transportation Database Manager position without raising the overall budget. Deputy Superintendent Gallivan said $48,729 came from a vacant Lynn Vocational Technical Institute Special Education Para line and $50,645 from Curriculum Consumables savings tied to PRISM grant funding. Member Smith commended Superintendent Cohen for finding "a solution that works with the needs of the district." The committee also voted 7-0 to send Lynn Tech SkillsUSA students, who won 14 gold medals at states, to nationals in Atlanta, and approved field trips for five schools.
During open mic, Tracy School teacher Angela Oza said the district still has not engaged families nearly three years after proposing to close at least six elementary schools, asking: "Why is Tracy first?"
