School Committee · Meeting of April 30, 2026

LYNN — The Lynn School Committee adopted an updated bullying prevention policy and ratified a three-year nurses contract. Compliance Officer Charlie Gallo presented changes to policy JICFB, required under a 2010 state law, which the full committee approved 7-0 after the Policy Subcommittee recommended it 3-0. The committee also voted 7-0 to ratify a three-year contract with Nurses Local 3137 carrying 3 percent annual cost-of-living raises.

Director of Data Matt Cronin reported the four-year graduation rate fell to 75.6 percent amid a 232 percent jump in homeless students and a 122 percent rise in multilingual learners. During open mic, Tracy Elementary teacher Angela Oza warned that a Massachusetts School Building Authority filing could close Tracy and send students 1.2 miles to the Callahan School. "You're one check away, one job loss away," said Member Castellanos of the district's homeless students.

The committee also approved a $16,000, trust-funded trip for five students to a marching band camp in Indiana.
